Meet Kayli Richards

Kayli has been with state government and the ND DOCR since 2019. Initially hired on part-time as the PIO for Parole and Probation, she quickly was asked to join full-time as the Public Information Officer (PIO) for the entire department, soon becoming Director of Communications as well as continuing as the department’s PIO.

In her role, she handles all public information and open record requests, media inquiries and interviews, press releases, social media, and internal and external communication and design. Kayli has more than 15 years of experience in marketing and communications including project management, editor, news intern, advertising management, and printing.

Kayli received the NDPIO 2023-24 Golden Gov Award, which is presented to those who elevate their agency's communications and foster success in public engagement.

She received her Bachelor of Science in Mass Communication from the University of Mary in 2012 and her Master of Science in Business with an Executive Leadership concentration from the University of Mary in 2018.
