Meet Jacob Just

Jacob Just is the Director of Communications for the North Dakota Insurance Department. Prior to joining the state, Jacob held a variety of roles in the radio industry, including program director and news reporter. Beginning his career in his hometown of Morris, Minnesota, he then moved to Jamestown and Valley City before starting his current role in Bismarck. As someone who made the switch from the broadcasting side of communications, he credits the opportunities within NDPIO for helping prepare him for the transition.

In the North Dakota Insurance Department, Jacob leads the communications efforts for the Insurance Commissioner, State Fire Marshal and the agency’s seven other divisions. This includes agent licensing, consumer assistance, company licensing, and fraud investigations. The Department communicates with consumers, agents, and insurance companies in North Dakota and across the country. 

Jacob was called to this profession by his family’s roots in public service. He enjoys helping people from all corners of the state get pertinent information to those who need it.

Jacob graduated from the University of Jamestown in 2021 with a degree in communications and political science. He is currently pursuing his Master’s in strategic communication from the University of Iowa.
